Les élégantes by Pauline B. is described as a laboratory for creation by its own founder. Pauline B. designs tailor-made hats and hairdresses in a feminine, mischievous and glamorous style. In 2013, when the first collection was launched, Pauline B. commissioned atelier à propos to design Les élégantes’ visual identity, its website, and to shoot some of its creations. Atelier à propos was also given the important task of coming up with a name for each line of hats and hairdresses within each collection.Les élégantes by Pauline B. designs airy and delicate hats and hairdresses. Atelier à propos decided to reflect it through the shape of the “é” of the word “élégantes”, which seems to be wearing its acute accent just as it would wear a hat. The Didot, a French typography from the 18th century, emphasizes Les élégantes’ French heritage and know-how. Each line is named after a “mouche”, a small piece of black taffeta which the French courtesans of the end of the 17th century used to stick on their faces and which position reflected its owner’s personality.
